The Republic of Colombia is located in the northwest of South America, bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the north. It is the only country in South America that faces two oceans.

It covers an area of 1.142 million square kilometers. The population is approximately 30.241 million, of which 57% are Indo-European, 20% are white, 14% are mulatto, 4% are black, 1% are Indians, and 4% are other races. Spanish is the official language. The capital, Santa Fe, Bogotá.

Colombia became a Spanish colony in the 16th century.

Independence was declared on July 20, 1810.

Since 1819, it has formed the Republic of Greater Colombia with Venezuela, Panama and Ecuador. In 1830, Venezuela and Ecuador withdrew one after another, and Greater Colombia disintegrated.

In 1831, it was renamed the New Granada Republic.

In 1886, the country was named the Republic of Colombia. July 20th is National Day.

On February 7, 1980, Colombia established diplomatic relations with China.
