On February 20, 2008 (January 14, 2008 in the lunar calendar), a South Korean military helicopter crashed, killing seven people. On February 20, 2008, rescuers investigated on the spot. South Korea's Ministry of National Defense confirmed on the 20th that an army helicopter crashed in the mountains near Yangpyong, Gyeonggi Province early that morning, killing all seven soldiers on board. The accident occurred with a US-made UH-1H helicopter. The helicopter crashed in the Longmen Mountain Mountains of Yang Ping at around 1:40 a.m. on the 20th (0:40 a.m. Beijing time) on the way back to the base after transporting a sick soldier to Seoul hospital for treatment.
