Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On May 10, 1941, Hitler's assistant Hees flew to Scotland
Eighty-four years ago today, on May 10, 1941 (April 15, 1941 lunar calendar), Hitler's aide Hess flew to Scotland. The wreckage of Hess's plane was displayed in Scotland on May 10, 1941, and in itself, Winston Churchill and most Britons have a hard time explaining what happened in Scotland today. A German plane crashed to the ground with Hitler's most loyal confidant, Rudolf Hess, on board. It is said that he was on a trip to negotiate a peace agreement. Winston Churchill said, "Many things are better than reality, and this is one of them." It is clear that Hess was on a mission to persuade Britain to divide the world into two spheres of influence. Some have analyzed the idea as the pinnacle of German arrogance. Hess, who the majority of Britons would probably agree with, said he was mentally disturbed. He died on Aug. 17, 1987, in Spandau Prison in Berlin, where he was the only remaining inmate. Forensics identified him as a suicide.
