Thirty-two years ago today, on June 7, 1993 (April 18, 1993 in the lunar calendar), the dramatist Yang Hansheng passed away. Yang Hansheng (November 2, 1902 - June 7, 1993) was formerly known as Ouyang Jixiu. A native of Gaoxian County, Sichuan Province. In the early 1920s, he joined the revolution and was one of the leaders of the Chinese left-wing cultural movement. In 1933, he participated in film work and created plays such as "Iron Plate Red Tears Record", "The Raging Tide of the Chinese Sea", "Lamentations of Life", "Escape", "Life and Death Concentric", "Night Run", "Eight Hundred Heroes", "Plug in the Wind and Clouds", "Lights of Thousand Families", "The Wandering Story of Sanmao", "Jiangnan of the Northern Country" and so on. In July 1949, he was elected chairperson of the Chinese Film Association at the first cultural conference. Yang Hansheng died in Beijing on June 7, 1993 at the age of 91.
