On this day, 30 years ago, on June 8, 1995 (May 11, 1995, the lunar calendar), my country developed a high-power He-Ne laser. A He-Ne laser with an output power of more than 350 mW passed expert appraisal in Beijing on June 5, 1995. After careful review, the appraisal committee chaired by Academician Wang Daheng and others concluded that the output power level of this laser ranks among the world's leading positions. He-Ne laser is a common gas laser that can emit bright red laser light, but the output power is generally low, all below several 10 milliwatts. This new high-power He-Ne laser changes the traditional design method and adopts a clever new structure, which greatly increases the output power of a unit length laser tube, thereby achieving a short cavity and high power output. The laser invented and developed by Professor Ling Yiming of Southeast University is a funded project by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Ten years of sharpening the sword, from the original concept to today's prototype, it took a lot of effort and effort from scientific researchers. The technology related to this laser has obtained China invention patents and U.S. patents. This is the first time that my country has obtained a patent in the United States in the laser field. Such high-power He-Ne lasers have broad application prospects and are of great significance to the development of laser technology and its applications, especially to the development of laser medicine. They are an ideal light source for photodynamic cancer treatment. In addition, it can also be used in irradiation physiotherapy, laser dust detection and other aspects.
