When he was in his teens, he began to show his interest in science-collecting insects first, then minerals, and classifying them into specimens. In 1914, he set up his own laboratory and did a large number of experiments alone. Later, he went to school while working to support himself and help his family. Because of his unique interest in chemistry, he served as a chemistry teacher at Oregon Agricultural College. After graduating from Agricultural College in 1922, he went to the California Institute of Technology to study. He obtained his doctorate in 1925, and his thesis is the result of a series of X-ray crystallography research. While Pauling devoted himself to science, he insisted on anti-nuclear. In 1957, Pauling teamed up with 2500 scientists around the world to publish the famous "Pauling Appeal", demonstrating the desire of scientists around the world to oppose nuclear war and love peace; In 1958, Pauling's move was supported by more than 10,000 scientists.
