On this day, 55 years ago, on December 9, 1970 (November 11, 1970, the Japanese "Parliamentarians Alliance for Promoting the Restoration of Japan-China Diplomatic Relations" was established. The president of the alliance and Representative of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Aiichiro Fujiyama delivered a speech at the founding meeting of the alliance. On December 9, 1970, the "Parliamentarians 'Alliance for Promoting the Restoration of Japan-China Diplomatic Relations", composed of Japanese parliamentarians from all political parties and non-party affiliation, was established in Tokyo. The declaration unanimously adopted by the founding meeting said that they would "work together to legally end the state of war between Japan and China and restore diplomatic relations on the basis of peaceful coexistence and non-interference in each other's internal affairs." More than 300 members of Japan's House and Senate signed up to participate in the alliance. Japan's Liberal Democratic Party Congressman Aiichiro Fujiyama was elected president of the alliance. Liberal Democratic Party Senator Kenzo Kono, Socialist Party Representative Kiichi Katsuma, Komeito Party Representative Ichiro Watanabe, and Democratic Socialist Party Representative Kazuki Haruga were elected vice presidents. Well-known Japanese figures such as Kenzo Matsumura, Tetsu Katayama, Kazuki Nakamura, Tsujiro Hiratsuka and Haruyama Ishibashi served as advisers to the alliance. At the first council meeting, eight people including Utsunomiya Tokuma, Seiichi Tagawa (above are the Liberal Democratic Party), Tadahisa Matsudaira, and Shinzo Kobayashi (above are the Socialist Party) were also elected as permanent members of the alliance.
