Among the officers at or above the military level involved in major corruption cases announced this time, in terms of the units at or above the military region level to which they belong, the Chengdu Military Region has the largest number of people investigated. One person was sentenced to life and 15 have not yet been convicted. Among the 16 people under investigation, Chen Qiang, deputy commander of Unit 96301, has been convicted. His crimes include corruption, bribery and huge amounts of property of unknown origin. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Military Court of the General Command of the People's Liberation Army in May 2014. The other 15 people are suspected of violating the law and discipline but have not yet been convicted. Among them, 6 have been transferred to judicial authorities, and 9 have been filed for investigation by military prosecutors. In the explanation of the reasons why these officers were investigated, six people, including Wang Minggui, Fang Wenping, Wei Jin, Ye Wanyong, Yang Jinshan, and Zhang Qibin, were accused of "suspected of serious violations of discipline."
