Felic and others at the age of 9. He wrote 36 pieces before the age of 18, mainly church music in the style of Palaestrina. In 1778, he received further education from G. Salti and mastered the Italian classical counterpoint technique. In 1779 he performed his first opera, "Quinto Fabio", which was successful with "Abandoned Armida" (1782). He came to London in 1784 and performed two more of his operas, where he served as a royal composer for one year. After settling in Paris in 1786, he changed his style and engaged in the creation of French operas. The first French opera he wrote, "Demofon" (1788), failed to perform, and the second "Lodoiska" (1791) was well received by the Parisian public. Later performances of his masterpieces, "Medea" (1797) and "Two Days" (1800, renamed "The Waterman" when performed in England and Germany) were praised by J. Haydn and L. van Beethoven. After 1794, he served as inspector and teacher of the Paris Conservatory of Music. He lived in Vienna in 1805 and did not return to Paris at the invitation of Napoleon until the French army occupied it. After the restoration of the French monarchy in 1814, he served as musical director of the Royal Chapel of Louis XVIII. From 1822 to 1842, he served as president of the Paris Conservatory of Music. His later compositions returned to religious music, and his main works were "Mass in F major" and "Memorito in D minor". Cherubini was a representative of the transition from classicism to romanticism. His 14 French operas contributed to the development of French opera, and also contributed to the revival of traditional Italian religious music in the early 19th century. He co-authored various teaching and theoretical works such as "The Course of Counterposition and Fugue" (1835).
