Born in a family of aristocratic housekeepers. He learned piano at the age of 6 and played publicly at the age of 9. He studied piano and composition with Czerny and Sariel. Moved to Paris in 1823. He is famous for his excellent piano skills in various European countries, and also engaged in composition and criticism. He was deeply influenced by St. Simon's theory and romantic literary and artistic trends. During the July Revolution in France, he wrote the "Revolutionary Symphony" (unfinished). Moved to Rome in 1861. In 1865, he was given a haircut at the Vatican and became a monk, but he continued to write. In 1875, he founded the Budapest Conservatory of Music and served as director. He was an important romantic musician in the history of Western music.
