On this day 255 years ago, April 7, 1770 (March 12, 1770 lunar calendar), the English poet Wordsworth was born. Wordsworth (1770-1850) English poet. Born April 7, 1770, in Cockermouth, County Kumbland, to a family of lawyers, died April 23, 1850 at Ridomont. Died of his mother at the age of 8. Five years later, his father left him again. Relatives and friends sent him to a boarding school near his hometown. In 1787, he entered Cambridge University and studied Greek and Latin literature, studying Italian, French and Spanish. The first poem was completed in 1784. In 1797, he met the poet Coleridge. The following year, the two jointly published "Lyric Ballads". From 1798 to 1799, he traveled to Germany and wrote "Picking Dried Fruit", "Ruth" and the poem "Lucy", and began to write the autobiographical poem "Overture". Wordsworth had an influence on Shelley, Byron and Keats in art. The golden age of Wordsworth's poetry writing was from 1797 to 1807. He was named Poet Laureate of England in 1843.
