77 years ago today, on February 28, 1948 (January 19, 1948 lunar calendar), the Battle of Wazi Street. The Battle of Wazi Street, which took place in the area of what is now Wazi Street Town, was the first battle in the Northwest Battlefield to enter the area under Chiang Kai-shek's rule during the strategic offensive stage in early 1948. The battle was fully launched and lasted from February 28 to March 1, 1948. According to the combat policy and plan of siege and assistance determined by Commander-in-Chief Peng Dehuai, first siege Yichuan to defend the enemy and lure the enemy to come for assistance. After the enemy who came for assistance entered the predetermined lure circle of the People's Liberation Army on February 28, the People's Liberation Army concentrated its main force to attack the enemy at 2:00 am on the 29th. By 17:00 on March 1, the enemy was quickly reorganized into the 29th Army Headquarters, the 53rd and 61st Brigades of the 90th Division, and the 31st and 49th Brigades of the 27th Division were completely annihilated. On the afternoon of March 1, the battle ended with a victory for the People's Liberation Army.
