The Battle of Wazi Street, which took place in the area of what is now Wazi Street Town, was the first battle in the Northwest Battlefield to enter the area under Chiang Kai-shek's rule during the strategic offensive stage in early 1948. The battle was fully launched and lasted from February 28 to March 1, 1948. According to the combat policy and plan of siege and assistance determined by Commander-in-Chief Peng Dehuai, first siege Yichuan to defend the enemy and lure the enemy to come for assistance.
