Twenty-nine years ago today, on February 29, 1996 (January 11, 1996 lunar calendar), China, Russia and India decided to establish the Asian Thermonuclear Research Foundation in Moscow. On February 29, 1996, representatives of China National Nuclear Corporation, the Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy, the Indian Institute of Plasma Research and the Iranian Ministry of Atomic Energy decided to establish the Asian Thermonuclear Research Foundation in Moscow. Important achievements in the field of thermonuclear fusion research in Asia have created conditions for the establishment of the foundation.
