On this day 38 years ago, on March 19, 1987 (February 20, 1987 lunar calendar), the great Italian scientist de Broglie passed away. De Broglie, a famous French theoretical physicist, winner of the 1929 Nobel Prize in Physics, founder of wave dynamics, founder of the theory of matter waves, and one of the founders of quantum mechanics. Born on August 15, 1892 in Lower Seine, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Paris in 1910, a Bachelor of Science degree in 1913, and a PhD degree from the University of Paris in 1924. He first proposed the concept of "matter waves" in his doctoral thesis. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1929. In 1932, he was appointed professor of theoretical physics at the University of Paris. In 1933, he was elected as a member of the French Academy of Sciences. Died on March 19, 1987.
