31 years ago today, on December 11, 1994 (November 9, 1994 lunar calendar), the Chinese Academy of Sciences received its first corporate donation. On December 11, 1994, Huiyuan Pharmaceutical Company of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine donated 1 million yuan to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the Great Hall of the People for the establishment of the "Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhonghui Cup Field Science Award". This is the first time that the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the highest scientific institution in our country, has accepted corporate donations to establish a science award. At the same time, Huiyuan Pharmaceutical Company also donated 4 million yuan worth of high-quality health care drugs "Zhonghui Protective Sperm" to the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a specific health care product for academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and field scientists. Xu Guanhua, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said at the donation ceremony that field scientific expeditions are the hardest work in scientific research, involving major topics such as resources, environment and global change. Thousands of scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences work on expeditions at Xizang Plateau, the Northwest Desert, the Pacific Ocean, the North and South Poles, and more than 60 field stations all year round. He hopes that the establishment of the "Zhonghui Cup" Science Award will inspire more people to care about and engage in field science, a great cause related to human survival environment. It is understood that the "Zhonghui Cup Field Science Award" will be the same as the "Zhu Kezhen Field Science Award" as the highest special project award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences field science. It will be selected every two years by relevant academicians and famous scientists organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The results of the selection will be announced and awarded at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Conference. At the donation ceremony, Xu Guanhua gave a 140 million-year-old wolfffin fossil excavated by field scientists of the Academy in a certain place in Hebei Province back to Mo Shikui, chairperson of Huiyuan Pharmaceutical Company, to thank the company for its support for field scientific expeditions in our country.
