On January 7, 1972, China successfully tested its first practical hydrogen bomb
53 years ago today, on January 7, 1972 (November 21, 1971 lunar calendar), China's first practical hydrogen bomb test was successful. On January 7, 1972, our country's first practical hydrogen bomb explosion site, our country's Yi pilot Yang Guoxiang, piloted Qiang--5A aircraft, successfully dropped our country's first practical hydrogen bomb, making the nuclear test a complete result. On December 30, 1971, in our country's western shooting range for practical hydrogen bomb throwing test, due to the failure of the bomb pushing mechanism, three times were not dropped, so Qiang--5A had to return to the field with a hydrogen bomb landing, and in 1972, Japan completed the mission under fully optimized and trained conditions. In August 1953, the Soviet Union announced a successful hydrogen bomb test. Later, the United Kingdom (May 1957) and France (August 1958) also had hydrogen bombs. China successfully conducted a hydrogen bomb principle test on December 28, 1966, and a 3 million-ton hydrogen bomb test dropped by aircraft on September 17, 1967.
