Breaking-News >> TodayHistory First pneumatic tire protected by patent
On December 7, 1889, the first pneumatic tire was patented. As early as 1836, the Belgian Diez put forward the idea of pneumatic tires. In 1845, Robert W. Thomson, a civil engineer in Middlesex, England, invented a tire wrapped in leather and filled with air or horse hair, but it was never actually used. In 1888, Scottish veterinarian John Bird Dunlop, who lived in Belfast, Ireland, saw that the solid rubber wheels of his son's bicycle were bumpy heavily on the rocky road, so he used a tube that was inflated through a valve and coated it with rubber as a protective layer to make a pneumatic tire. Wrap this pneumatic tire around the wheel, which is the beginning of pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are an epoch-making initiative in the history of bicycle development. They not only fundamentally change the riding performance of bicycles, but also improve the use of bicycles. Dunlop applied for a patent for his invention, gave up his veterinary career, established the world's first tire manufacturing factory, and began producing rubber tires. Soon, Dunlop's company developed rapidly and became a pioneer in the industry. It quickly expanded into a multinational group company, setting up production facilities and exporting production equipment in Germany, France, Canada, Australia and the United States. Dunlop's products have always been synonymous with high-performance, high-quality tires. People can see Dunlop's footsteps from the racing track to the road they drive every day.
