Philadelphia Constitutional Convention convenes

The presiding officer of the 1787 U.S. Constitutional Convention was George. Washington. Madison, a major participant in the U.S. Constitutional Convention and known as the "father of the U.S. Federal Constitution", gave a complete record of the 116-day Constitutional Convention held in Philadelphia from May 25 to September 17, 1787. The record is full from beginning to end, covering all issues debated during the Constitutional Convention process. It truly and completely reproduces the overall historical picture of the 1787 Constitutional Convention in the United States, and vividly and realistically describes various specific details of the debate at the conference.

On May 25, 1787, the first day of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, three things were done, according to Madison:

The first thing is to elect the chairman of the Constitutional Convention. On the proposal of Mr. Morris, the representative of Pennsylvania, and by a written vote of the representatives participating in the conference, General George Washington was unanimously approved by the seven states present at the conference that day and was elected Chairman of the Constitutional Convention.

The second thing was to appoint a secretary of the conference. The operation was still nominating delegates and voting. Major Jackson was elected by five votes, while Dr. Benjamin Franklin, then 81, lost by two votes.

The third thing was the election of a drafting committee for meeting rules, based on the proposal of the meeting representative, Mr. Pinckney. After voting, three Mr. Weiss, law professor, lawyer Hamilton, and lawyer Pinckney were elected to form the drafting committee of the rules of the Constitutional Convention. The meeting drafted a new constitution, which came into effect on March 4, 1789.

Comments: Countless people study, the object of learning, the significance is needless to say.

Key words: May 25, 1787, Philadelphia, Congress
