The Battle of Vaslui was a famous battle fought by the Romanian people against Turkish aggression under the leadership of the Archduke of Moldova, Stefan.

Considering that he had only 40,000 troops, Archduke Stefan adopted a strategy of clearing the land and luring the enemy deeper, and led the Turkish army into Vaslui, a swampy area where the Lakova and Burrad rivers meet. There is only a narrow high bridge to cross the river, and there are all muddy swamps.

On January 7, 1475, the exhausted Turkish army began a decisive battle with Stefan's army, who was waiting for trouble. Before launching the decisive attack, Stefan sent a team of trumpeters to the rear of the Turkish army to blow the assault horn. The confused Turks mistakenly believed they were surrounded, and the team fell into chaos. Stefan took the opportunity to immediately launch a head-on attack with his main force and defeat the enemy. Stefan took the lead and bravely killed the enemy. After three days and nights of fierce fighting, he defeated the Turkish army on the 10th and captured Suliman Pasha and eight governors. Many Turkish officers and soldiers drowned in swamps and rivers, and the Moldovan army won a complete victory. This was a famous battle in which the few defeated the many and the weak defeated the strong. Depending on the location of the battle, this battle was called the Battle of Takahashi or the Battle of Vasloui.
