On October 12, 1945, the Eighth Route Army annihilated the Kuomintang army that attacked the CCP's area in Shangdang, Shanxi. In late August, more than 17,000 people from Yan Xishan Department of the Second Theater Zone, with the cooperation of the Japanese puppet army, set out from Taiyuan and Yuci to invade the Changzhi area of the Communist Party of China's Jin-Hebei-Luyu Liberated Area. Under the leadership of Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping, the troops of the Jin-Hebei Luyu Liberated Area concentrated the main force of Taihang, Taiyue, and southern Hebei and more than 31,000 local armed forces. On September 10, they launched the Shangdang Campaign, recaptured the eldest son, Huguan and other 4 cities, and then besieged Changzhi. Yan Xishan urgently transferred more than 20,000 people to slow down. Liu and Deng continued to besiege Changzhi with a force, and the main force was ambushed in the area between Tunliu and Siting. On October 2, Liu Deng's troops launched an attack and annihilated most of the Yama army who had entered the ambush circle. The army between Changzhi saw a bad situation and abandoned the city and retreated. On the 12th, they were gathered and annihilated in the General Ridge and Taochuan areas.
