On this day, 87 years ago, on December 18, 1938 (October 27, 1938, the Chinese version of "Journey to the West" was publicly released. In December 1939, the Chinese translation of Edgar Snow's "A Rambling Journey to the West" was published. The original name of the 1937 English version of Victor Gorantz Company in London was "Red Star Shines on China", which was renamed "Journey to the West" when it was translated and published by Shanghai Rehabilitation Press. The book was the author's venture to interview the northern Shaanxi Base Area of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army in June 1936. Records of the base area are the first long work to faithfully report the actual situation in the red base area. Most of the material comes from first-hand information interviewed by the author.
