February 1, 1877 The birth of educator Xu Teli
On this day, 148 years ago, February 1, 1877 (December 19, 1876, the lunar calendar), the birthday of educator Xu Teli. Xu Teli, a veteran revolutionary educator who once taught at Hunan First Normal School, celebrated the 50th anniversary with the teachers and students of the school. Xu Teli was born on February 1, 1877 in Changsha, Hunan. He once served as a teacher at a Normal School in Hunan. In 1919, he actively advocated and personally participated in the work-study program in France. Three years later, he returned to China to establish Changsha Women's Normal School. In 1927, he joined the Communist Party of China and participated in the Nanchang Uprising. Later, he worked in the Central Soviet Area and served as Minister of Education. Participated in the Long March in 1934. After arriving in northern Shaanxi, we carried out education and publicity work. After the founding of New China, he served as a member of the Central People's Government and was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Member of the Central Committee of the Seventh and Eighth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He died of illness in Beijing on November 28, 1968.
