In 1947, Chiang Kai-shek concentrated his forces on attacking the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, and the Central Committee decided to divide the Central Committee and the Military Commission into three. On April 11, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to form the Central Rear Committee with Ye Jianying, Yang Shangkun, Li Weihan, and Li Kenong, and led most of the organs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Central Military Commission to transfer to Lin County District in northwest Shanxi to form the Central Rear Committee, responsible for the Central Committee's contact with the Jiefang District and coordinating rear work.
