Veterinary parasitologist Xiong Dashi was born on August 26, 1900

It has made important contributions to cultivating animal husbandry and veterinary talents in my country. Xiong Dashi was born in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province on August 26, 1900. In 1914, he was selected to study in the preparatory class for studying in the United States at Tsinghua Academy in Beijing. In 1923, he went to the United States to study at the School of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. He graduated in 1927 with a bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine; he continued to study at the school's School of Science and received a master's degree in science in 1928. In 1930, he was awarded a doctorate in philosophy from the school. He returned to China in 1930 and served as professor and acting director of the Department of Biology at Nankai University in Tianjin. At that time, the Japanese army invaded China became increasingly rampant, and Tianjin was in danger. In 1935, he resigned from Nankai University and went to work in Sichuan Province. He has served successively as a professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Central University; technical director and director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Group of the Sichuan Province Institute of Agricultural Improvement; Technical director and director of the veterinary department of the Livestock Conservation Institute of Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he served as professor and director of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, School of Agriculture, Peking University. When the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, Xiong Dashi taught at Beijing Agricultural University until his death for 37 years. He served successively as Secretary-General (later changed to General Affairs), Professor and Dean of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Director of the Teaching and Research Group of Animal Parasitology, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the University; He has served as a member of the First Academic Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, executive director of China Agricultural Society, member of the Animal Husbandry Professional Group of the National Education Commission, vice chairman and honorary chairman of China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Society, editor-in-chief of China Veterinary Journal, vice chairman of the Beijing City Association for Science and Technology, and member of the third, fourth and fifth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
