On April 21, 1153, the Jin Dynasty changed Yanjing to Zhongdu
On this day, 872 years ago, on April 21, 1153 (March 26, the 1153 lunar calendar), the Jin Dynasty changed Yanjing to Zhongdu. After Wanyan Liang killed Jin Xizong and seized the throne, in 1150, he sent people to the old city of Zengguang in Yanjing (present-day Beijing) to build a court. On April 21, 1153 (March 26, the first year of Zhenyuan in the Jin Dynasty), the Jin Dynasty moved the capital, changing the Yuan Dynasty to "Zhenyuan", changing Yanjing to Daxing Prefecture in Zhongdu, Bianjing to Nanjing (now Kaifeng, Henan), changing Shangjing to Huining Prefecture, and changing Dading Prefecture in Zhongjing to Beijing (now southwest of Ningcheng, Inner Mongolia). Liaoyang Prefecture in Tokyo (now Liaoyang, Liaoning) and Datong Prefecture in Xijing (now Datong, Shanxi) remain the same. The Han land was divided into 14 roads, and the chief manager's house was set up. After Wan Yanliang moved his capital to Zhongdu, the palace examinations were restored, with systems such as "using words to confer and laws to collect soil; removing torture and ordering car cover patterns". He also took over the military, administrative, financial and other powers in the Central Plains and North China. Therefore, this move of the capital marked the completion of the Jin Dynasty's process of centralization.
