The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was destroyed due to deliberate arson

The Temple of Artemis is located in what is now Ephesus, Turkey. It is dedicated to Muse Artemis, also known as Diana, the god of fertility and harvest in agricultural society. People from as far away as Asia came to worship, and it was the most common folk belief before the rise of Christianity. The temple is 130 meters long and 70 meters wide. It has 126 marble columns with a height of 18 meters. It was started by Crossos of the Kingdom of Lydia and completed in the Achaemenid Empire of Persia in 550 BC.

On July 21, 356 BC, a young man named Herostratus set fire to the Temple of Artemis in order to gain fame.

The temple is not divine. The only seven wonders of the world are the Pyramid of Giza.
