On August 20, 2008 (July 20, 2008 in the lunar calendar), proletarian revolutionary Hua Guofeng passed away at the age of 87. An outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a time-tested and loyal communist fighter, a proletarian revolutionary, and Comrade Hua Guofeng, who had held important leadership positions in the party and the country, died at 12:50 on August 20, 2008 in Beijing at the age of 87 due to ineffective medical treatment. Hua Guofeng (February 16, 1921 - August 20, 2008), a native of Jiaocheng County, Shanxi Province, formerly known as Su Zhu, joined the Anti-Japanese War in 1938. Hua Guofeng intended to be "the vanguard of the Chinese Anti-Japanese Resistance and National Salvation". In 1940, he served as the director of each Anti-Japanese Federation in Jiaocheng County, and later served as the secretary of the Jiaocheng County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China. After 1949, he served as the secretary of the county party committee and the commissioner of the local party committee in Xiangtan, Hunan Province. He served as the first secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee during the "Cultural Revolution".
