On this day, 47 years ago, on December 18, 1978 (November 19, 1978, the lunar calendar), my country participated in the first global atmospheric test. On December 18, 1978, my country's two ocean survey ships-the "Shijian" and "Xiangyanghong 09"-that participated in the first global atmospheric test for tropical sea observations, left Huangpu Port and marched into the test sea area through the wind and waves. The first global atmospheric test was an important scientific research collaboration activity in the field of international meteorology organized and implemented by the World Meteorological Organization. It was conducted from December 1977 to November 1979. The first year was the preparation stage, and the second year was the implementation stage. The "Shijian" and "Xiangyanghong 09" went to the tropical sea area to participate in observations, which is a task undertaken by my country to participate in this experiment. The two ocean survey ships went to designated tropical sea areas mainly to observe local high-altitude meteorology (including wind, pressure, temperature, humidity) and sea surface meteorology, as well as underwater depth, temperature, etc., to provide meteorological and ocean data for global atmospheric experiments. The first period of observation was from January 5 to March 5, 1979, and the second period was from May 1 to June 30.
