Aden became a British Crown Colony

On April 1, 1937, Aden became a British Crown Colony.
The Colony of Aden or Aden Colony was a British Crown Colony from 1937 to 1963, consisting of the Port of Aden and its surrounding area (approximately 192 square kilometers).
Until 1937, Aden was part of British India (first the settlement of Aden under the jurisdiction of Mumbai, and later the Province of the Chief Commissioner). After the passage of the Government of India Act 1935, Aden became a Crown Colony on April 1, 1937.
On January 18, 1963, Aden was reorganized into the State of Aden and joined the Southern Arab Federation. British rule ended after the Commonwealth was changed to the People's Republic of South Yemen on November 30, 1967.
