Breaking-News >> TodayHistory Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Jintian Uprising
The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom is a great peasant revolution in the modern history of our country. On January 11, 1851, more than 20,000 male and female farmers and handicraft workers with red scarves gathered in Jintian Village, Guiping County, Guangxi Province, and solemnly announced an uprising in cheers. The founding name of the uprising army was Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, which publicly declared that it was in armed opposition to the Manchu Qing Dynasty. The leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Jintian Uprising was Hong Xiuquan, who spent five years from 1845 to establish dozens of large and small strongholds in Guangxi and Guangdong, growing to tens of thousands of people. In July 1850, Hong Xiuquan believed that the uprising situation was ripe, so he issued a general mobilization order to the congregations in Jintian Village. January 11, 1851 (the 10th day of the twelfth month of the old calendar) was Hong Xiuquan's birthday, and the Jintian Uprising broke out due to the situation. Hong Xiuquan promulgated five military disciplines, which required the Taiping Army to strictly abide by: (1) abide by the rules; (2) do not act like men and women; (3) do not commit crimes in autumn; (4) be harmonious with public hearts, and abide by the leaders; (5) work together as one heart and do not back down. Although these five military disciplines are concise, they played a very important role in enhancing the unity of the Taiping Army and strengthening its combat effectiveness, and therefore won the support of the broad masses of the people. The Jintian Uprising was the beginning of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Revolution, which opened the prelude to the modern Chinese people's revolutionary movement. In order to establish the ideal heaven of freedom and happiness, the Taiping Army fought thousands of miles, conquered more than 600 towns, swept half of China, and set the highest record in the history of our country that the banner of the peasant regime did not fall for 14 years. Although the Taiping Rebellion Movement ultimately failed, it dealt a blow to the rule of the Qing Dynasty and accelerated the collapse of the feudal system. It attacked foreign invaders and made their attempt to quickly turn China into a colony impossible. The Taiping Rebellion Movement has far-reaching influence. It not only inspired the anti-feudal struggle of the people of China in the future, such as Sun Yat-sen who once claimed to be Hong Xiuquan's second; it also had an ideological influence on some Asian countries, such as Japan and Korea (Dongxue Party). The large-scale relief sculpture of "Jintian Uprising" engraved on the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square is not only for people to pay their respects, but also shows its historical significance.
