On this day 63 years ago, on October 20, 1962 (September 22, 1962 lunar calendar), Indian troops invaded Xizang, China. Since 1962, Indian troops have crossed the Line of Actual Control between the two sides of the Sino-Indian border in the western and eastern sections of the Sino-Indian border, encroached on Chinese territory, established positions of aggression, and provoked border conflicts many times. The Chinese government has repeatedly proposed to resolve the border issue through negotiation, but the Indian government has rejected it. In September 1962, Indian troops brazenly advanced north of the illegal "McMahon Line" in the eastern section of the Sino-Indian border, killing and wounding our border guards. On October 20, the Indian army launched a large-scale attack on China. The Chinese border guards were forced to fight back in self-defense, smashing the invasion of the Indian army and defending our country's frontier. In order to continue to seek a peaceful solution to the Sino-Indian border issue, the Chinese government issued a statement on November 21, announcing that the Chinese border guards would take the initiative to cease fire along the entire Sino-Indian border from 0:00 the next day. Starting from December 1, the Chinese border guards withdrew 20 miles from the line of actual control between China and India in 1959. Subsequently, the Chinese government took the initiative to return all the captured weapons, ammunition and other military materials to the Indian side, and released and repatriated all the captured Indian military personnel.
