On April 22, 1993, the founder of the Japan-China Friendship Association, Yuichi Saionji, passed away at the age of 87. He had long exposed the massacre committed by Japanese militarists in Nanjing, China, and the secret creation of a poison gas factory in Northeast China in his own "World Pictorial". Since the early 1950s, he has mainly devoted his energy to the world peace movement and the cause of Japan-China friendship, serving as the executive director of the Japan-China Friendship Association and the executive director of the Japan Committee for the Defense of Peace.
