Thousands killed in Afghanistan earthquake

A spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Public Health confirmed to the main station reporter today (September 2) that so far, the death toll from the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan late at night on August 31 local time has risen to 1,000, and the number of casualties may further increase.

According to the China Earthquake Network, the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.1, and the depth of the earthquake was 20 kilometers. When the reporter of the headquarters in Afghanistan visited the hard-hit Kunar province, the earthquake caused severe damage to many local villages. Due to the blockage of roads after the earthquake, the wounded can only be transported by helicopter.

Officials from the Afghan National Disaster Management Agency who rushed to the disaster area said the number of casualties will continue to increase.
