On March 3, 1992, the Sun-Terrain Physical Prediction Center was established at the Beijing Observatory
33 years ago today, on March 3, 1992 (January 29, 1992 lunar calendar), the Sun-Earth Physics Prediction Center was established at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. In 1991, the National Science and Technology Commission and the Chinese Academy of Sciences approved the establishment of the World Warning Center Beijing Sun-Earth Physics Prediction Center. On March 3, 1992, the Sun-Earth Physics Prediction Center was established at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. The Sun-Earth Physics Prediction Center (RWC-Beijing) has four sub-centers: the Geophysical Prediction Center, the Space Environment Prediction Center, the Ionospheric Prediction Center, and the Solar Activity Prediction Center, headquartered at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. In 2000, according to the requirements of the International Space Environment Service Organization, it was renamed the China Regional Warning Center (RWC-China), with the aim of improving the level of solar-terrestrial physical forecasting, expanding the scope of services, promoting research and forecasting of the solar-terrestrial space environment, conducting domestic and international cooperation and exchanges in solar-terrestrial physical research and forecasting, and conducting rapid data exchange with other international regional warning centers to obtain global solar-terrestrial physical data and forecasts, in order to serve the region.
