Flag of Andorra

In 1278, an agreement was reached between the two parties, and Andorra was jointly owned by the Count of Foix of France and the Bishop of Ugel of Spain (the scope of the agreement was the prototype of Andorra's politics and territory today). Later, the sovereignty of the Count of Foix was transferred to the hands of King Navarre. In 1607, King Henry IV of France ordered the French head of state to have the sovereignty of Andorra at the same time as the Bishop of Ugel.

In 1933, France occupied Andorra in the name of the social unrest caused by the Great Depression. On July 12, 1934, a Russian adventurer, Boris Skossyreff, declared to the public in Ugur that he had sovereignty over Andorra and declared war on the bishop of Ugur. But he was arrested by the Spanish authorities a few days later on July 20 and immediately deported. From 1936 to 1940, France sent troops to Andorra due to the Spanish Civil War.

During World War II, Andorra remained neutral and became a major smuggling hub between Vichy France and Spain.

Andorra has been isolated for a long time, maintaining only relations with France and Spain. In recent years, Andorra has made efforts to improve transportation and communication, and has vigorously developed tourism. In 1993, Andorra held a referendum to adopt the Andorran Constitution and became a member of the United Nations.
