In September 1982, Deng Xiaoping and Mrs. Thatcher discussed the Hong Kong issue. The "Our Basic Position on the Hong Kong Issue" published by Xinhua News Agency on September 23, 1993 was a speech made by Deng Xiaoping when he met with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on September 24, 1982. In the speech, Deng Xiaoping pointed out that our basic position on the Hong Kong issue is clear, and there are three main issues.
