Zheng Chenggong's army attacked the Dutch city of Geranza in Taiwan

Zheng Chenggong (1624-1662), a famous national hero in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, was formerly known as Fusong and Sen, and was born in Shijing Village, Nan'an County, Fujian Province. His father, Zheng Zhilong, was the "Jian Amber" of the Longwu Dynasty of the Southern Ming Dynasty, who organized immigration to Taiwan and actively developed Taiwan Island. In 1653 (10 years of Qing Shunzhi), Emperor Yongli of the Southern Ming Dynasty (Zhu Youlang) named him the "King of Yanping".

In April 1661, Zheng Chenggong ordered his eldest son Zheng Jing to defend Xiamen. He led 120 warships and more than 25,000 soldiers to land in Heliao Port, Taiwan. After a fierce naval battle, Zheng's army sank He, and the main ship "Hector" was recaptured. During the nearly one-year scramble, the Dutch army suffered nearly 2,000 casualties. On January 25, 1662, Zheng Chenggong's army attacked the Dutch city of Geranza in Taiwan. Defeating the Dutch colonialists who had occupied Taiwan for 38 years forced the colonial governor, Kuiyi, to sign surrender on December 13 of the same year (February 1, 1662) and withdraw from Taiwan. Zheng Chenggong established the first Han Chinese regime in Taiwan. However, due to poor hygiene conditions in tropical areas at that time, Zheng Chenggong contracted the epidemic and finally fell ill. He died in May of the same year at the age of 39. Originally buried in Tainan Zhouwei. Emperor Kangxi wrote an elegiac: "Four towns have more hearts, two islands have teachers, and they dare to fight for half of the wall in the southeast; kings have no land, and they resist in one corner, only to know that there is allegiance overseas."
