Ninety-nine years ago today, on May 3, 1926 (March 22, 1926), the British workers went on a general strike. The procession passed through the streets of London. On May 3, 1926, the British trade unions launched the largest general strike in history. The original cause was the government's abolition of postwar subsidies, which reduced the wages of miners. But for more than 10 days, workers in coal mines, transportation and steel companies 4 million strike together. With the support of other unions, the miners were confident that the strike would succeed, but the public believed that the workers were forced to strike.
