On October 2, 1926, Feng Yuxiang's army went south to Xi'an
On this day, 99 years ago, on October 2, 1926 (August 26, 1926, the lunar calendar), Feng Yuxiang's army went south to Xi'an. In early October, General Feng Yuxiang, in accordance with the policy of "consolidating Gansu to aid Shaanxi and uniting with Shanxi images", Feng Yuxiang first sent two divisions, Tong Linge and Sun Lianzhong, to Gansu to assist Sun Liangcheng and Zhang Weixi, who had stayed in Gansu, in eliminating the rebellion of Zhang Zhaoji and Kong Fanjin. Feng also appointed Sun Liangcheng as the commander-in-chief of aid to Shaanxi, Fang Zhenwu as the deputy commander-in-chief and commander of the first route, Gong Fukui as the commander of the second route, Sun Liangcheng as the commander of the third route, Ma Hongkui as the commander of the fourth route, Shi Yousan as the commander of the fifth route, Han Fuju as the commander of the sixth route, and Chen Xisheng, Liu Ruming, Han Zhanyuan, Zheng Dazhang and Zhang Wanqing as the seventh route. When the armies of various armies marched westward, Han Fuju was the commander-in-chief of the armies in Liusui in order to prevent enemy vehicles from following and pursuing them. Sun Liangcheng led the various departments in front from Longdong and attacked Xi'an from Binshan Avenue. Fang Zhenwu's troops set out from Wuyuan on October 8 and joined Sun Liangcheng's troops in Xianyang via Guyuan, Pingliang and Qianzhou. In early October, Sun Liangcheng's vanguard had arrived in Xingping, Shaanxi. On October 12, Liu Zhenhua's Zhensong Army withdrew from Sanyuan and moved to Sanyuan in Youren to form the Joint Headquarters of the Second and Third Armies of the National Army as the leadership center of the Shaanxi Army outside Xi'an. On October 15, Sun Liangcheng's vanguard troops and the Shaanxi Army led by Yu Youren attacked the enemy forces in the Xianyang area. Sun's troops went thousands of miles to aid and were exhausted. They fought hard for dozens of days and suffered great damage; It was raining heavily for days, and the reinforcements were slow to move, so Sun was ready to retreat. The Soviet advisers of the Shaanxi Aid Command disagreed with the retreat plan, so the Sun Department regained its spirits and made a difficult assault to advance towards Xi'an.
