The Gezhouba Project mainly consists of a power station, ship lock, discharge gate, sand flushing gate, etc. The total length of the dam is 2595 meters, with a crest height of 70 meters and a width of 30 meters. The controlled drainage area is 1 million square kilometers and the total reservoir capacity is 158,000 cubic meters. The power station has an installed capacity of 21 units, with an average annual power generation of 14.1 billion kWh. Three ship locks have been built, which can pass through a large fleet of 10,000 tons. The maximum flood discharge volume after the 27-hole discharge sluice gates and the 15-hole flushing sluice gates are all opened is 110,000 cubic meters per second. The Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project is the first dam built on the Yangtze River in my country and is an important part of the Three Gorges Water Conservancy Project of the Yangtze River. This great project is also one of the few huge water conservancy projects in the world. The design level and construction technology of the water conservancy project reflect the latest achievements in my country's current hydropower construction and are a milestone in the history of hydropower construction in my country. The Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project successfully solved the river closure, sediment problems and large-flow flood discharge problems. It made a successful practical exploration for the subsequent construction of the Three Gorges Project. It also accumulated rich experience in promoting the development of water conservancy and hydropower technology in my country and improving the level of water conservancy and hydropower technology. The Gezhouba Project River Closure Project and the Second River Project won the National High-Quality Engineering Excellent Design Gold Award and Silver Award respectively. The Gezhouba Project Second and Sanjiang Projects and their hydropower units won the first National Special Award for Scientific and Technological Progress, and the Gezhouba Project won the National Excellent Survey Gold Award.
