On this day, 88 years ago, on March 31, 1937 (February 19, 1937, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made a decision on Zhang Guotao's mistake. This meeting began on March 23. 56 people including Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Zhang Wentian, Peng Dehuai, and He Long attended the meeting. From March 23 to 26, the meeting focused on criticizing Zhang Guotao's mistakes. After Zhang Guotao's inspection, more than 30 people, including Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, He Long, and Miao Chengzhi, criticized Zhang Guotao's mistakes. No organizational conclusions will be drawn on Zhang Guotao for the time being. On March 31, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee issued the "Decision on Comrade Zhang Guotao's Mistakes." The "Decision" pointed out that Zhang Guotao committed the mistake of anti-Party and anti-Central Committee's political line; the mistake of rightist separatism of advocating unlimited retreat to the remote areas of western China; and the mistake of valuing military power above party power, and finally went to the mistake of warlordism of using the army to coerce the Central Committee, demanding the reorganization of the Central Committee, and even establishing a second "Central Committee." The "Decision" calls on the whole party to resolutely fight against Zhang Guotao's mistakes. After the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Ren Bishi conveyed the CPC Central Committee's "Decision on Zhang Guotao's Mistakes" to the comrades who participated in the joint meeting of cadres above the First, Second and Fourth Aspects.
