In May 1946, 42 journalists in Chongqing jointly with Xinhua Daily published an open letter condemning the Kuomintang news organs for their untrue reports on the "Jiaochangkou Incident" in Chongqing by Kuomintang agents. In June of the same year, they were besieged and beaten by Kuomintang agents while conducting an interview at Nanjing Xiaguan Station. In May 1947, he organized and reported on the "Anti-Hunger, Anti-Civil War, Anti-Persecution Movement" demonstration held by students in Nanjing. He was arrested by the Kuomintang authorities in November 1948. After his release from prison, he wrote a newsletter for the Hong Kong Wen Wei Po. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Shanghai Wen Wei Po and the director of the Beijing office. He served as a member of the First, Second, Third and Fourth National Committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and was elected as an alternate member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League. He went to the front line of Korea three times to interview and condolences the Chinese People's Volunteers. After returning to China, he went to Xinjiang and other places to interview, and the travel newsletter he wrote was published as "Xinjiang Journey Records". In 1957, he was mistakenly classified as a "rightist". Later, he served as the deputy head of the Cultural and Education Group of the Cultural and Historical Materials Research Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and participated in the editing of the "Selected Cultural and Historical Materials". He died in Beijing on April 23, 1970. Pu Xixiu worked in journalism for more than 30 years. She was famous for her hard work and agile literary thinking. She
