On March 24, 1938, Japan passed the National General Mobilization Law
87 years ago today, on March 24, 1938 (February 23, 1938 in the lunar calendar), Japan passed the National Mobilization Law. Between 1937 and 1938, in order to meet the needs of the full-scale invasion of China, Japan promulgated the "Three Wartime Laws", namely the "Temporary Funds Adjustment Law", the "Law on Temporary Measures for Import and Export Commodities" and the "National General Mobilization Law", which aimed to strengthen the state's intervention in the economy and put it on the wartime track. Among them, the "National General Mobilization Law" passed on March 24, 1938 was the core of Japan's wartime nationalist control legislation. It placed science and technology, culture and education, coverage, industry, transportation, finance and trade under the control of the government. Subsequent to this law, various control decrees were promulgated, bringing all aspects of national life under the control of the state.
