Forty years ago today, on October 9, 1985 (August 25, 1985 lunar calendar), more than 20,000 Han slips were unearthed in the Hexi Corridor. On October 9, 1985, more than 20,000 Han slips were unearthed in the Hexi Corridor. More than 23,000 Han slips were newly unearthed in the Hexi Corridor of our country, with about 450,000 characters. The Gansu Provincial Cultural Relics Task Force has now preliminarily completed the cleaning of these Han slips. The Hexi Corridor is an important passage along the ancient Silk Road. During the Western Han Dynasty, there were many military and political activities here, and a large number of Han slips were left behind. In the late Eastern Han Dynasty, large-scale military activities stopped here, and a large number of Han slips were buried in the vast desert. In the early 1930s, the first batch of more than 10,000 Han slips unearthed here caused a sensation in the world. Since then, a new discipline has emerged at home and abroad - the study of Han slips. In recent years, a large number of Han slips have been unearthed from the west end of the Hexi Corridor, the Ejina River Basin (known as Juyan in ancient times), Ma Quan Bay in the west of Dunhuang, Dunhuang Ghee Soil, and Yumen Flower Sea. It is dry and rainy, and sparsely populated, so the Han slips left over from more than 2,000 years ago are still intact and clearly written. This batch of Han slips truly records the military, political, economic, ethnic and social life conditions from the second year of Emperor Wu of Han in the Tianhan Dynasty (99 BC) to the fifth year of Emperor An in the Eastern Han Dynasty (111 AD). The shapes of this batch of Han slips include Jane (Za), two lines, slips, checks, talismans, goblets, signatures, books, etc. After preliminary cleaning, there are more than 70 volumes of relatively complete books, with more than 1,300 pieces of original chronicles. Among them, "The Royal History Book of the Second Year of Ganlu", "The Book of Kou En Affairs that Su Jun was responsible for in the December of the third year of Jianwu", "The Fire Testament of Sai Shangpeng (Feng) " and "The Order Book of the King's Staff" are well preserved. This batch of Han slips has important historical value, playing the role of "confirming history with simplicity" and supplementing the insufficiency of historical records.
