British writer Jane Austen passed away on July 18, 1817
On this day 208 years ago, on July 18, 1817 (June 5, 1817 lunar calendar), the English writer Jane Austen died. Jane Austen (December 16, 1775 - July 18, 1817) was an English female novelist. Born in the rural town of Stevington, her father was a local parish priest. Austen did not attend formal school, but received a good family education, and her main teaching material was her father's literary collection. The Austen family loved to read popular novels, mostly vulgar pastimes. Her teenage studies were parodies of such popular novels, thus forming the sarcastic tone of her work. She began writing around the age of 20 and published a total of six novels. Sense and Sensibility, published in 1811, was her first novel, followed by Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Gardens (1814), and Emma (1815). Northanger Abbey (also known as Northanger Abbey) and Persuasion (1818) were published the year after her death, and were signed by the author's real name. Austen was never married and had a well-off family. Due to her living in a rural town, she was exposed to small and medium-sized landowners, priests, and their quiet and comfortable living environments, so there were no major social contradictions in her works. With her feminine and nuanced observation, she truthfully depicted the small world around her, especially the marriage and love turmoil between gentlemen and ladies. Her work has a relaxed and humorous style, full of comic conflict, and is very popular with readers. Comments: Jane Austen is beautiful and talented, the best of both worlds
