Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On April 3, 1946, the Allied Commission for Control of Japan was established
On this day, 79 years ago, on April 3, 1946 (March 2, 1946 in the lunar calendar), the Allied Committee for Control of Japan was established. From December 16 to 26, 1945, the foreign ministers of the Soviet Union, the United States and the United Kingdom held a meeting in Moscow to discuss some major issues in post-war Europe and the Far East. The meeting decided to impose control on Japan after the war. Accordingly, the Allied Commission for the Control of Japan, composed of representatives of the Soviet Union, the United States, Britain, China, Australia, New Zealand and India, was established in Tokyo on April 3, 1946. The mission of the Commission was to implement the Potsdam Proclamation, ensure the implementation of Japan's surrender clauses, and conduct "consultation" and "make recommendations" with the Supreme Commander of the Allied Occupation Forces on issues of Japanese occupation and control. Since the Moscow Foreign Ministers 'Conference and the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces (then MacArthur of the United States) gave greater authority, the powers of the Allied Counterpart Control Committee were actually nominal and only served as an advisory body to the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces. In April 1952, after the San Francisco Peace Treaty came into effect, the Allied Commission for Control of Japan was illegally dissolved by the United States.
