On this day 38 years ago, on March 27, 1987 (February 28, 1987 lunar calendar), China's first Special Olympics was held. Held in Shenzhen from March 27 to 29, 1987, 314 mentally handicapped athletes from 14 teams across the country and Hong Kong participated in three events of track and field, table tennis and football under the encouragement of the slogan "Brave Try and Fight for Victory" announced by the International Special Olympics Committee.
