On this day 43 years ago, on August 21, 1982 (July 3, 1982 lunar calendar), the "Gang of Four" Shanghai Yudang was sentenced. Wang Xiuzhen in court On August 21, 1982, the Shanghai Higher People's Court and the Intermediate People's Court respectively held a public trial against the important criminals of Jiangqing Counter-Revolutionary Group in Shanghai, Xu Jingxian, Wang Xiuzhen and Chen Ada, Ye Changming, Huang Jinhai, Dai Liqing, Ma Zhenlong, and Zhu Yongjia. Xu Jingxian was sentenced to 18 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 4 years; Wang Xiuzhen was sentenced to 17 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 4 years. Chen Ada and Ma Zhenlong were sentenced to 16 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 3 years. Ye Changming, Huang Jinhai and Dai Liqing were sentenced to 15 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 3 years; Zhu Yongjia was sentenced to 14 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 3 years. Ma Tianshui, who was second only to Zhang Chunqiao and Yao Wenyuan, was unsentenced due to mental illness.
