Mongolian Turhute Tribe returned to the Qing Dynasty under the leadership of Wobassik

During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, the leaders of a Turghut tribe in Moxi Mongolia and Orlek led their troops to leave the original pasture land of Tarbahatai (now Tacheng, Xinjiang) due to the disharmony with the leader of the Junggar tribe, Batur Huitaiji (the father of Gartan). West moved to the lower part of the Volga River, with Tsarist Russia as a neighbor in the north. At first, Tsarist Russia exchanged market with it, and then the forces of the Turghut tribe gradually declined, and they were often controlled and oppressed by Tsarist Russia. Since the Shunzhi period, they have been sending people to Beijing to "pay tribute to the people". During the Kangxi period, the Qing Dynasty also sent Tu Lichen and others to the lower part of the Volga River to visit these compatriots far away in the West.

In 1770 (35th year of Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty), under the leadership of their leader Vobassik, they held an uprising against Tsarist Russia.

On January 5, 1771 (November 20, the thirty-fifth year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty), Waubaxi led the 170,000 of his troops to embark on the road of returning to the motherland. Along the way, he defeated the Russian army that chased and blocked him. He successfully returned to the motherland in June and was warmly received by Emperor Qianlong. In the "Temple of Putuo Zongchen" in Chengde, there are two stone tablets, "The Return of the Turghut Department" and "The Records of the Youge Turghut Department". It is one of the historical witnesses of the unity of the motherland.

Key words: January 5, 1771, Turghut, Mongolia
