In 1949, he took a boat from Shanghai to Taiwan with his family and lived in Taichung. In 1954, he was admitted to the National Taiwan University majoring in law. In 1955, he was admitted to the Department of History of National Taiwan University, and in 1961, he was admitted to the Institute of History of National Taiwan University. In 1963, he voluntarily suspended his school and published his first book,"Monologues under Tradition." In 1965, he published an article criticizing the Kuomintang in Wenxing magazine, which led to the magazine's suspension. In 1966, some of his books were banned. In 1967, he was prosecuted by Taiwan's "High Court" on suspicion of "obstructing public affairs." 1968-1969 He made a living by selling used electrical appliances. He was placed under house arrest and stalking since 1970. He was arrested in 1971, sentenced to 11 years in prison, and was released from prison in 1976. In 1979, he published books such as "Tradition under the Monologue". In 1980,"The Complete Works of Li Ao" was published. He was imprisoned again in 1981. After being released from prison in 1982, he began to publish articles exposing the darkness of justice and prisons. On May 9, 1999, a commemorative performance was held to commemorate the "50 Years of Troubles in Taiwan", a total of 40 volumes of "The Complete Works of Li Ao" and 10 new books were published, and it was agreed to donate his body after his death.
